My day job is founder and CEO of RP’s Pasta Co. I’ve always loved pasta, but when I first had fresh pasta in Italy it was a transforming experience—something that was already great, made even better. I wanted to share that difference with others and RP’s Pasta was born.
My most memorable caffeine would be in France with my wife on our “honeymoon”—though it was four years after we were married. We had dinner at a bistro in Paris and enjoyed a great meal and wine, then walked around and stopped for an espresso. That was definitely a moment of clarity—I feel like I can remember every element of that perfect evening.
My current caffeine of choice is a cappuccino with whole milk and a short pull with foam that’s not too dry.
My favorite place for caffeine would be anywhere in Italy. It’s a very different experience there, especially in the morning: you order at the bar and drink your coffee standing up. It’s not a leisurely experience; you’re ready to solve the problems of the day!
The person I’d love to share a cup of caffeine with is Eleanor Roosevelt. Although most of us know who she was and have a sense that she accomplished great things—especially at a time when women often had to achieve their goals from a position in the back seat—I don’t know as much about her as I’d like. I’d love to sit down with her and hear the details.
World problem that could be solved with the right amount of caffeine: People’s fear of interaction. We don’t seem to know how to connect with each other any more, especially now that so much of our communication doesn’t take place face to face.
