My day job is producer on the Joy Cardin show on Wisconsin Public Radio. This is a current events show that runs Monday-Friday from 6:00-9:00 a.m. Joy covers everything from politics to popular culture and my job is to pitch ideas, book guests, write articles based on topics we’ve covered on the show—which are then posted to social media or our website—and be the liaison between Joy and the call-in audience. In my spare time, I’m an actress and have been in a number of plays locally. My next performance is the upcoming Strollers production of Amadeus, where I’ll be playing the role of Constanze Weber, Mozart’s wife.
My most memorable caffeine is the coffee I drink every morning at work. I start work at 5:30 a.m., and I have to be ready to handle the show at 6:00 a.m., so I NEED coffee.
My current caffeine of choice is black coffee at work—give it to me straight!—and a green tea latte on the weekend. I also like coffee ice cream.
The person I’d love to share a cup of caffeine with is a whole tableful! I’d put God at the head of the table—and I envision God as a woman! I’d also have Beyoncé—whom I’d elect for president if I could—because I love the empowering, uplifting and motivating messages she sends to women, black women in particular. Drake, because his music is real and uplifting and he’s a powerful example of setting and achieving goals.
I’d also choose Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr., because they stood up for their history and their culture and didn’t tolerate how they were treated by society and the political system. They recognized how important it was to bring our community together.
I’d invite my three favorite actresses—Angela Bassett, Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson—especially Angela because she’s a superb classic actress and a strong woman. And I’d invite my mom! She’d love to sit at that table with me and I’d enjoy it so much more if she were with me!
World problem that could be solved with the right amount of caffeine: Hunger. Imagine if we could come up with a food that was nutritious, affordable and accessible that could end hunger around the world.
